We know that taking photos can be a time consuming process. Although 360 cameras have sped up the process of capturing photos by a significant amount (compared to taking photos in every direction), you still get slowed down if you have to constantly walk and stop at each location on a project to capture a photo. If you are on a larger project, or do not have enough resources to have a dedicated person to do this, then you inevitably will experience a slowdown in terms of the frequency/thoroughness of your capture on your project.
StructionSite's VideoWalk workflow tackles this problem head on! Just set your starting position on the drawing, and go! Our computer-vision and machine learning/AI will track your movement as you traverse through hallways, rooms, doorways, etc., without the need for you to stop at each location and redefine where you are on site.
Depending on how long your walk took, you should be able to start viewing your results within an hour.

How is VideoWalk different from taking normal 360 photos?
VideoWalk should be seen as complementary to the photo taking
process. It's best to approach reality capture in general from the perspective of using the best tool for the job.
VideoWalk: Quick, frequent, capture for the purposes of the guaging of progress of construction (is it installed or is it not?). For change order management, schedule tracking, subcontractor coordination, logistics, pay-apps. Weekly or bi-weekly. The quality/resolution may not be as high as photos but it's good for quick-hit and frequent capture.
360 Static Photos: Higher resolution, comprehensive capture focused on milestone documentation. Monthly or major activities such as before dry-wall closeup where defects need to be seen. For "CYA" focused activities. This is mostly if you really need the quality.
Standard directional photos: A complement to 360 Static photos for exterior/elevation shots, looking down narrow hallways, or areas of high concern/complexity. Extra-high resolution capture of areas to determine defects. It’s also important for the democratization of access to the technology; not everyone will have a 360 camera at every moment, so the ability to natively handle standard directionally photos on its own, combined with GPS fencing and construction drawing tracking, allows StructionSite to be used as a catch-all for all photo documentation in the project as a preferred system of record

Note1: Other 360 cameras with video functionality can be used and added manually on the web.
Note2: Use of non-5K 360 cameras, such as the Ricoh Theta V or Samsung Gear 360, will result in lower quality footage, but can still be used (but not recommended)
2. An omni-directional lighting solution if you're capturing inside of jobsites with variable lighting (not needed if there is going to be plenty of natural, jobsite light throughout your ENTIRE walk).
3. Accessories depending on the lighting solution selected
Option 1: Illumagear Hardhat light + Hardhat Mount
We recommend the purchase of a hardhat mounting kit, in order to attach the 360 video camera directly to the top of the hardhat.
Solution 2: LED Lantern + Monopod
With this setup, you need a monopod, as well as a male to male 1/4" adapter in order to mount the camera on top of the lantern.
